Sophia 5th Birthday

My little girl turned 5! We celebrated with our family on her actual birthday and then the following Saturday she had some friends over for a party. `
Sophia is such a sweet, smart, helpful, funny and loving girl. She loves to help out with whatever I ask her to do, most of the time. She loves to look at books with her younger brothers and sister and tell them stories. Many a time I have over heard her helping them with counting and colors and the alphabet. She is a mini mama! She is very independent and likes to learn things on her own and when she has figured out most of it herself than she will ask Chris and I for some help. Our family is so blessed to have her.
The cake I made on her birthday was a recipe from a magazine and I did not notice that it was a healthier cake. Chris and I noticed when we ate it but the kids did not seem to complain!

We lucked out the day of her party and got really nice weather for January. We spent the time eating pizza, opening presents, playing outside, jumping on the trampoline, playing games, eating cake and ice cream, blowing bubbles and going on a hunt for the goody bags.

We were so happy to have Tia and Brandon join us for Christmas this year. We enjoyed all of our time together. On Christmas Eve we went sledding at Mt. Rainier with Tia, Brandon and Autie and her family. It was such a nice day and we had a lot of fun. Did some sledding, ate our picnic lunch in the visitor center. Then we went over to another spot and played in the snow. Nate dug out a snow cave and the kids thought that was great. Chris and I were thankful for all the help from Autie, Nate, Tia and Brandon with the little ones. It made things way more manageable for us.

My family, Autie's and our cousin Morgan tried to go to Alki Beach in Seattle but it was so busy we couldn't find any where to park. So we called our cousin James, who lives in Seattle, and asked him for another place to go. He gave us directions to another great beach that I can not remember the name of. We barbequed, visited and played. James and his wife met us down there and visited for a little bit. We had a great time and also got to witness a great sunset.

My sister Autumn and I flew to Arizona for my Mom's birthday weekend last August. We did not cook, clean or do any work that is associated with children for 4 days! We relaxed in the pool, ate out, did a tiny bit of shopping, watched movies, went to "As You Wish" pottery shop and painted pottery and did some boating/wake boarding/tubing. We got to spend all of our time with our Mom and sister Tia. We did see our brother a little bit when he was not working and we did get to play with our adorable and almost always smiling nephew, Corby. Our Mom rented a boat one of the days we were there and we enjoyed the day on Canyon Lake. For the first half of the day it was just us 4 ladies. Tia helped us figure out how to get up the correct way on a wake board. Autumn and I took a few rough falls before we got it figured out. In the afternoon TK (mom's husband) and Lauren (TK's daughter) showed up and joined us. We had a great time. Glad we could go and spend the weekend celebrating my Mom's birthday. I have such a great husband!

Montana Summer 2009!

We are getting close to hitting the road to Montana again so I figured that I should blog about last years trip! We had so much fun as usual. We were there the end of July beginning of August. We celebrated Kiana's 1st b-day while we were there. We spent one night camping at Gypsy Lake. I didn't sleep all night, it was so cold. I could not get my toes to warm up. The kids slept pretty good. We woke up in the morning to a frosty ground. We saw a beaver (Brandon got some video of it) swimming around. Sam and Brandon saw several anaconda snakes!! Some how the rest of us missed out on those sightings. We told some good poop stories around the campfire and played mexican train dominos. Fun was had by all.
We went swimming and kayaking at Canyon Ferry Lake. My Dad and Pattie rented a boat one day so we spent the day swimming, skiing and tubing. Autie, Nate and family showed up on Mason's 2nd birthday so we had a little celebration for him. We meet up at Uncle Scott's and Aunt Dawn's house and went to the Townsend Rodeo Parade with some of the Scoffield relatives. Uncle Bart and Aunt Trish were both in the parade. It was fun to see them doing there thing. After the parade we went to the Rillway cabin. My Dad, Pattie, GG, Scott, Ducky, Jennifer (her boyfriend), Shannon (her boyfriend) and Lexi came out and we had dinner. The kids played in the creek. We found a mouse that was living at the cabin. Autie's family, Tia, Brandon and our family camped out there for the night. After we put the kids to bed the grown ups were visiting by the camp fire and Nate found a way to scare us ladies silly! My Grandma Trenna's (GG) family used to own or lease the Rillway Cabin for a very long time until the Forest Service took it back several years ago. I need to write down all the details from my Grandma again so I can have correct info. My family would go to the cabin and bbq with relatives when I was younger and I always enjoyed going there. We were able to go to Julie and Arden's lake house and spend some time with more of our Scoffield relatives. My Dad, Chris, Nate and Brandon had an opportunity to go on horse back in the mountains and round up some cattle. They had some good stories when they got back from doing that. My Dad made a contraption called "Old Blue" for the kids to ride on. It is a blue barrel with a saddle on it, held up by ropes. The kids sit on it and somebody else pulls on the ropes so it bounces around like a bucking bronco. The kids loved it. There were horse rides, playing with the dogs, collecting eggs from the hen house, picking raspberries in the garden, catching bugs and birds, playing games, lots of 4 wheeler rides, deer watching and probably much much more that I have forgotten over the last year. We love going to Montana!!

July 3 & 4, 2009

On the 3rd of July there is a fire works show at South Sound Center. We watched the from the roof of the CDC building. The kids really enjoyed that, of course. A few nights before Chris' brother, Justin, had Chris cut his hair into a mullet. It was way ugly! He dressed up on the 3rd to match his hair do. It was pretty funny.

We went to the beach for the 4th of July. We went to Copalis Beach, where Chris' family has a beach house. It was a nice day and we were able to spend about 4 hours on the beach. Soon after we hit the sand Chris walked over to the water and Aaron fell down and got wet and was not happy about it at all. I got him dry and he spent the rest of the time hanging out and sleeping in the pop up tent we brought. The rest of the kids had a good time digging in the sand, flying the kite, getting their feet wet, looking at sea creatures, finding sea shells and dead crab pinchers, and playing with Goose (Shane's dog). Chris' brother Jeff and his family were staying the weekend at the house so we got to visit with them and ate dinner with them. We went home before it was dark. The kids had stayed up late the night before watching the fire works so they didn't miss out on anything. We had a fun day and hope that next time we go Aaron will actually play instead of staying in the tent.

Sams kindergarten play was based off The Little Red Hen. It was very cute and fun to watch. There were different groups of animals. Sam was in the rabbit group. They sang some songs and had a few dance moves. After the play we got to go to his classroom and have snacks and look at his special memory book of projects he had worked on all year.
The school year started out pretty hard for Sam and by default, myself. For at least the first few months of school he would run away in the house or the yard and yell that he was not going to school. I would have to chase him down or my wonderful neighbor and friend, Leslie would help chase him down and he would be hauled off to school. He grew out of that eventually and finished out the year a lot better. He made some good friends from his class and worked hard at reading.

SAM TURNED 6, HURRAY!! It was warm out so we had cake on the back porch. Then he opened his gifts. He got a Seahawks hat, a cool big bouncy ball with gold sparkles in the middle and a few other things that I can not remember. He got a Seahawks jersey from his Nana and a fun musical card that all the kids loved. We played in the front yard and the kids had ice cream bars and played and rode bikes and scooters and such. Jeff, Julie, Gabby and Rylee stopped by and hung out for a bit. They gave Sam some bakugon stuff that he liked. We had a nice simple celebration. My favorite kind! A few days after his birthday, Sam went out with his Grandma and Grandpa Blume for dinner and a movie and went shopping. He got to see the movie, UP, and came home with a nintendo DSI.
We are so proud of Sam. He seems to be growing up so fast. He likes to give us a handful of trouble most every day but he also has a big heart and has a lot of great talents. He really enjoys drawing and is pretty creative and good at it. Thanks to his cousin, CJ, he is interested in football and the Seahawks. He and I like to play catch when we can. He has a pretty good arm. He does several chores around the house and does a great job. He is doing really good with his reading and is really liking math.

Preschool Field Trip 5-09

For part of the 08/09 school year myself and some friends did a preschool in our homes. It was fun but I think we had enough because we did not do it this year! Even though it was a little crazy for me I still really enjoyed it. When it was my turn to teach I had the 6 preschool kids and my 3 younger kids so it could get a little crazy with the twins wanting to join in and if Kiana got hungry and/or tired. It was fun to help the kids learn and listen to their little stories and just get to know their personalities better. For one of our last preschool days we went to Percival Landing downtown Olympia and went up on the tower and then walked on the boardwalk down to the park. I only took a few pictures and I wish I would have gotten a group shot with all of us, but I didn't. Sophia and Vincent were being stinkers about something so they would not join in any the pictures.

We took a trip to North West Trek and it happened to be the same day that Kiana turned 10 months. We enjoyed seeing all the animals on the tram ride. Moose, deer, bison, big horned sheep, ducks, a swan, geese, caribou, and a mountain goat. Walking the paths we saw bears, bald eagles, and some other animals that I can not remember at the moment. We ate a picnic lunch and enjoyed our day. Sam and Sophia had fun taking some pictures on the tram ride.

Lacey 1st Ward Camp Out 5-09

We went to Zion's Camp for our ward camp out. We had a lot of fun. I was more comfortable this year than last. Last year I was 7 months pregnant so not very comfy! The kids had fun running around playing with there buds. One frog was caught and many salamanders. The talent show was entertaining. The morning after we had a yummy breakfast and devotional. The kiddos swam, played at the park and Chris took them for a row boat ride.

So way back in April we bought our first home. I don't have any pictures to share yet. We moved in but are still moving in as far as putting up pictures and little details such as that. We also went to the procession of the species in downtown Olympia. It is a parade with floats and people dressed up as animals. The kids love it and of course there are some very interesting people to look at.

For Sophia's 4th birthday she got to have a party at Charlie's Safari with her family and extended family. I am not usually into expensive birthday parties (every once in a while is okay for me) but Sam happened to have his birthday last year when we went to the indoor water park at the Great Wolf Lodge with my sister and her family. He lucked out and Sophia thought she was going to get to go there too for her big day but we explained that it costs a lot of money and that maybe she could go somewhere else. She pickedCharlie's Safari, of course. Originally we were just going to take our kids there to play and then go home for Cake but we ended up getting a room and it was nice cause it was all done there and less mess for me to clean up and the kids had a blast. Our plan for birthdays is going to be similar to how we did it when I was a kid. Every other year you get a party with your friends and the other years it is with your brothers and sisters and Mom and Dad. Good for the families who always have a big expensive party every year but I just seems that so many kids now a days expect a lot of money to be spent on their parties and gifts because that is what they are used to and really they would be perfectly happy with a simple celebration and a few gifts. Anyway, enough of that. Sophia seemed to have a great time but on the way home when I asked if everyone had a good time she said, "NO, I didn't have any fun at all and pouted the rest of the way home." Think she was a little tired by then and overwhelmed. She really did have fun. We did not get any pictures of the kids playing on the toys. We were to busy keeping up with the kids and visiting.
We sure love our sweet Sophia. She is by far one of the most easy going kids I know. She only gets really fiesty and mean when she is really tired or has to protect herself from her brothers. She is a natural little mother and teacher. I catch her looking at books with the twins and teaching them letters and how to count, all the time. She often says how much she misses Sam while he is gone at school and gets excited when we go pick him up. She is really sweet with her baby sister. Her best cousin buddy is Logi and her best non cousin buddy is Turner. She really enjoys her preschool. Myself and a few other moms take turns teaching for preschool one day a week. She asks almost every day when preschool is gonna be! We love you Sophia and are so thankful to have you as a part of our family.

One of the sweetest oranges ever!

This Christmas was the best I've had in a while. We went to Arizona. Hurray! There were 17 of us staying at my Moms house and it was great. 9 of those people were children 8 yrs old and younger. We flew in the night of the 22nd. The plane ride went well. The only slight problem was the airline had all 7 of us sitting in different rows. That was not going to work with so many little ones so they had us come on the plane last and then announced over the intercom how many kids we had and asked for volunteers to move around so the kids could sit next to us. A few nice people moved and it all worked out. We had a lot of fun and stayed up way too late every night playing games and talking. Everyone except Autie's family got sick with a 24 hour bug. Pukes and dukes all around! Everyone included my brother and his son, Corby and wife, Ashley and my Mom's husband to be, TK. We got to spend sometime getting to know our new step siblings. We went to the Phoenix Zoo (where most the kids got to ride a camel) and the Museum of Natural History (where we saw dinos and rocks and such and we got to pan for gold, fools of course). Ate really yummy and huge oranges straight off the tree. We even got to spend a few short hours with my Dad. He was on his way from Montana to New Mexico and we were all glad to spend a little bit of time with him. We got a good chuckle looking at my Dad without his mustache. He has only shaved it off a few times since I can remeber so it is quite a difference. Chris and Nate met up with Todd at the Golf Course he works at and played some golf. Our last day there, Dec. 31st, my Mom got married. It was a long day since the ceremony was delayed by 3 or so hours due to my Mom going to the emergency room by ambulance. She got dehydrated when she was sick and she didn't get any better and got really weak. So she had to get IV fluids on her wedding day. She felt a little better after the fluids but still had to sit in a chair for the ceremony but they got it done. I didn't get any pictures of the actual wedding. I was a little exhausted by that time. We did stay up til midnight but we were so tired and had to get up at 5am to get going to the airport so no jumping in the pool from the roof by the guys this year or setting off any fire works or pot banging. Maybe next year! I was so sad to leave my siblings and Mom and the mostly sunny skies but it was nice to be back in our own space once again. Oh and Sophia got her hair cut while we were there. She mostly refuses to let me do anything with it so I figured she and I were better off it was shorter so it didn't look quite so messy all the time.

Snow Days

We got a good amount of snow a few days before winter break was starting up, so Sam got 3 extra days off of school. The first day Sam and Sophia spent most of the day outside playing in the snow. It was great! I snuck out and played for about 2 hours while Kiana, Aaron and Vincent were napping. It was so much fun. It brought me back to my past and all the fun memories of playing outside all day in the snow when school was canceled. Sam and I built a snowman. Playing out in the snow was extra fun since Sam and Sophia have so many kids to play with right across the street. I really want to buy our own home and not rent anymore but I will want to move all our neighbors with us, especially the Olivers. They can never move away, never!!

What is wrong with these pictures?

So can you guess what is wrong with these pictures of Sophia? I will tell you what is wrong. She should have her nails painted and her hair done all cute with sparkles in it but as you can see, she does not. She went to a princess birthday party today at Jack and Jills childrens hair salon. The girls are supposed to dress in their best dress. Sophia picked the one in the above pictures. At the party each girl got to have their hair done and nails painted. Sophia declined to have either done. She even went as far as hiding behind the table cloth when we tried to get her to just sit in the chair. She sure is one crazy kid!

They really can smile and they really were excited

and happy even though they look so miserable Sam was a lion, Sophia a pirate (she called herself Captain Hook), Aaron a killer whale and Vincent a dog. Sam added the mittens so he could have paws. We went to trunk or treat at the church and went to a few houses in the neighborhood. The Moss' had a scary set up at their place. Sophia was scared walking up to the door, but the twins really got scared when Bro. Moss, who had a gorilla mask on made some noises at them. Aaron screamed the most and if you asked him later about it he got all nervous. Kiana sat in the back of the van at the church and was very content. She just watched everyone going by until she fell asleep.
The night before we decorated sugar cookies with some cousins. Fun was had by all!

Vincent went a little crazy with the sprinkles and Aaron would have Carissa put sprinkles on his cookie and then he would eat them all off and then want her to put more on.

Aaron and Vincie are two. I can't believe we have all made it thru their first year, let alone two and added another child in that time. We are crazy!! What a crazy and fun two years it has been. Can't imagine how boring our lives would be without these two great kids. Chris and I have had to learn alot and fast. Patience (not that we are always patient) has been improved greatly. Aaron was born 6 min. before Vincent and they were only an ounce different. Their weight and height has always stayed right about the same as the other. Tomorrow is their two year check up so I will give those stats later. They have a lot of similarities but they also have their distinct personalities. They both can get quite an attitude goin on sometimes but Aaron is definitely more fiesty. Let's just say Aaron and I had a stand off for 40 minutes when we were getting Sam from school one day. He wanted to be carried to the car but I was carrying Kiana in her car seat so he refused to walk and it took 40 min. before he walked to the van to go home. He is also a nice boy, who is good at sharing with his siblings and loves to play outside, jump on the trampoline (our little one or the big one in the Oliver's back yard). He loves any kind of ball to play with and makes us smile and laugh all the time. Vincent is pretty easy going and goes with the flow most of the time. He loves animals (any kind) and babies. Playing outside and the trampoline are some of his favorites also. He makes some pretty funny faces. They both love to dress up in Sophia's dress up clothes or our dress up costumes. Right now their most favorite movie is, Spirit. They would watch that movie everyday if we let them. We are so blessed to have them. They got lots of great presents from their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The best present of all is their big climber and slide. For the winter we are keeping it in the down stairs playroom. They will be able to climb and slide their selves silly all the rainy cold winter long.

Kiana Blessing/two month stats

Kiana was blessed on September 28th. Her Dad blessed her of course and he was joined by his Dad(Gary), Uncle Jeff, Uncle Nate and the bishopric. A sister in the ward wrote down what she could catch from the blessing. Thought that was sweet. Never heard of anyone doing that before. I only got a few pictures of her when we got home but better than nothing. She at least got to wear a blessing outfit. Aaron and Vincent were blessed in Christmas pj's. The poor kids!

Her two month check up was September 29th. She was 90th percentile for weight and height. She was 12lbs 12oz and 23 1/2 in. Her Dr. referred us to a physical therapist cause Kiana favors her left side. With her head and her trunk. Always leaning to the left. The physical therapist did an assessment and gave us some stretches and other things to do to try and help her use both sides of her body. We have a check up with the physical therapist this week and will see what she says. One of Chris' brothers is a Chiropractor and he has done some work on her and it really has been helping her alot. She is always way more relaxed and spits up way less after he does his thing. Hopefully she will get more comfortable as she gets older.

Twins first hair cut

Aaron and Vincent finally had their first hair cuts on September 30th. They were so great. They thought it was fun. We were pleasantly surprised since Sam has always disliked having his haircut. Pretty much a major meltdown almost every time he gets one. So nice that the twins thought it was so much fun. You will see from the pictures how much fun they had and how excited Sam was when it was almost his turn. Don't mind the pizza sauce on Sam's face from dinner and try to ignore the picture with Sophia picking her nose in the back ground.

My main purpose for having this blog is to kind of have a family journal and so friends and family can see what is going on with us, of course. I know Jen will be so glad that I finally am doing this. I might be one of those people who sometimes goes months without anything new posted but ya know life happens.
